A little paint

The first coat of paint is going up right now. I went by the house at lunch to sneak a peak. Most of the pictures came out too dark, but one or two came out okay. It is still hard to tell what the paint will look like once all coats are on and the trim is painted, but so far so good.

More Cabinets

The upper kitchen cabinets went in today. They look great. I can't wait to see them finished. The entertainment center also went in but the crown molding isn't up yet on it. The painter was priming everything when I went by. I hope to see some color on the walls the next time I go out there.

Corner cabinets. The fridge will go to the far left, the micro/range will be in the space under the small cabinets.

The pantry.

The entertainment center...it looks a little strange to me in the picture, but i thought it looked really good in person.

A better view of where the fridge and micro/range will be.

Trim, Cabinets and Stucco

This week the rest of the stucco was put up and it was painted. The trim is starting to go in, along with the cabinets. I went by today, two days after I took the following pictures, and the rooms already look different! Hopefully, I will get to go by there early next week for those pictues. In the meantime, here are the pictures from Thursday, March 19th.

I'm ready for the front door to be stained and the shutters to go up.

The crown molding and baseboards are going up. No, those are not the doors that go to the office. The french doors aren't ready yet, but they needed something to get the door frame the right size.

Andrew had Shane put the fancy stuff above my windows (and front door). I'll have to take a picture of the kitchen windows. They look really good.

The perimeter kitchen cabintes. I have a farmhouse sink going in, which is why the cabinets are low in one section of this picture. The hole to the right is where the dishwasher is going. The lower cabinets and island will be painted. The upper cabinets are cypress, but they aren't in yet. :(

The island ... trash can drawer, drawers, and cabinet below the area where the kitchen sick will be.

The office. You can't see all of it because of the door frame, but there is another section of shelves and then below that are drawers/cabinet.

The beginning of my bathroom cabinets.

The cabinets in the spare bath. Not really exciting but I didn't want to discriminate.

Closet doors in the spare rooms.

This is what the interior doors look like. Who knew there were so many choices when it comes to doors? Smooth versus wood grain. Panels, no panels. Arches, rectangles. Six panels, four panels, etc. You get the pictues. I deliberated over what type of interior door to put in the house for a good 10 minutes. In the end, Andrew suggested this particular look and I just decided to go with it. Because of the drama, I decided it was blog-worthy.

Quick Dog Nap

I'm pretty sure Rigby feels like he should have at least one picture on the blog. Here he is, dreaming about hanging out in his very own backyard.

Stucco and Sheetrock

So, I went out to the house on Saturday, March 14th. It had been raining all weekend, so I was lucky I made it into the house without getting stuck in the mud! The sheetrock was finished last week and the texture was sprayed (or however it works) on the walls. Here are a few pictures, mainly of the same views I have been posting. Hopefully someone cleans up soon. I brought Rigby with me a few weeks ago and he was trying to eat everything on the ground. I think this week, the cabinets and trim have been going up and the stucco is being completed. The painter goes out tomorrow. Not sure what he starts with, trim or cabinets. I think for the most part I have picked everything out. The only things I can think of that I haven't gotten yet are cabinet knobs and doorknobs. Oh, and the tile for my backsplash and surrounding the fireplace. Unfortunately for Andrew, I told him he is really good at that and should just pick it out for me. We'll see how far I get with that.

Foyer and Living Room. If you are wondering about all of the holes in the ceiling of the living room, I am putting in a fan and 4 can lights. The other holes are for the surround sound.

Stucco, and lots of mud, and garbage.

The front of the house. I can't wait for the garage door to be in, the shutters to be up and the awning to be over the door. Still waiting on word about the awning. The guy who was initally going to make it recently told Andrew he wasn't, so now we are waiting on another company.

The Front Bedroom a.k.a. (Little) Andrew's Bedroom

The arches, edges finished, sheetrock floated, texture in place. The door to the left is the office and straight ahead is the laundry room.

Brick & Sheetrock

I know I haven't posted in a few weeks and that is because last week insulation went in and I didn't really get around to posting the few pictures I took of that. This past week, the bricks and the sheetrock went up. Really, the sheetrock should have been finished on Friday, but Cableworks hit a gas line at 8:30 in the morning. That meant no one could do any work until the leak was fixed. I got back into town around 2:00 and Entergy was just finishing up. I took a few pictures of the inside on Friday and then I went out again today to take more of the outside. I am amazed every time I go out there. I am also amazed at how big the house and yard are going to be! I brought Rigby with me today. He tried to eat a few too many things on the ground, but I think he was excited.

Bricks ... can't wait for the stucco and awning to go up.
